Privacy Policy
ByteSage Labs ("ByteSage Labs", "we", "us") built WiSure to answer one question — is this Wi-Fi safe to use — without needing to know anything about you to do it. This policy explains, plainly, what WiSure does and doesn't collect.
The short version
- WiSure has no account, login, or sign-up.
- Every scan runs on your device. Results are stored on your device.
- We don't operate servers that receive or store your scan results, browsing activity, or location history.
- We don't use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers.
- We never sell personal information, because we don't collect any to sell.
What WiSure accesses on your device, and why
| Permission | Why WiSure asks |
|---|---|
| Location (When-In-Use) | iOS requires location permission before any app can read the name (SSID) of the Wi-Fi network you're connected to. WiSure uses this solely to identify and remember networks — it does not track or store your location history, and does not use continuous or background location beyond what iOS itself requires for this lookup. |
| Precise location (temporary) | iOS separately downgrades location to reduced accuracy by default. Reading the current Wi-Fi network's technical details requires full accuracy for that single request; WiSure requests it only when scanning. |
| Local Network | Some safety checks need to see whether other devices are reachable on the same network (used to warn you if a network doesn't keep other users' devices separated from yours). This never leaves your device. |
| Notifications | Optional. Used only for on-device alerts — for example, letting you know when you've joined a network that's changed since your last visit. WiSure does not use a push notification server. |
You can deny or later revoke any of these in iOS Settings → WiSure. Denying them limits specific features (for example, WiSure can't identify which network you're on without Location access) but the app will tell you what's affected rather than fail silently.
What's stored, and where
Scan history, saved places, and their names are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device storage frameworks. This data is never transmitted to us. If WiSure supports iCloud or device backups at the OS level, that data moves with your device the same way any other locally-stored app data would — we don't have separate access to it.
Payments and subscriptions
Purchases (subscriptions and the lifetime unlock) are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We never see or store your payment method, card details, or Apple ID. Apple's own privacy policy governs the data involved in processing your payment — see Apple's Privacy Policy.
What we don't do
- We don't run analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs that profile you.
- We don't build advertising or tracking profiles, and we don't sell, rent, or share personal information with data brokers.
- We don't require an account, so we have no email address, name, or login credential of yours to protect or lose.
Your rights
Because scan data and saved places live only on your device, you control them directly — delete individual entries or clear all history from within the app, or remove the app entirely to remove all locally stored data at once. Where applicable privacy law (such as the EU/UK GDPR, or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act) gives you rights to access, correct, or erase personal data we hold, you can exercise those by emailing support@bytesagelabs.com — though in practice, since we don't hold your scan data ourselves, there is typically nothing on our servers to provide or delete.
California residents (CCPA)
We do not sell or share personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we do not collect personal information beyond what's described in this policy.
Children's privacy
WiSure is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of WiSure after a change means you accept the updated policy.
